BAR DE LUXE is a Hong Kong Japanese Cocktail Bar locates on the oldest street in Hong Kong - Pottinger Street, Central. Overseen by the legendary Japanese mixologist Hidetsugu Ueno, the founder of BAR HIGH FIVE, the international acclaimed cocktail bar in Japan.

Since BAR DE LUXE’s inception, the bar has been mentored by the legendary Hidetsugu Ueno.  Mr. Ueno is considered one of the legends of the cocktail world and his bar Bar High Five in Tokyo was the first Asian bar to place in the top three of the World's 50 Best Bars.

 

Ueno san’s protégé, Ivin Hui is now head bartender, a local lad who got started at Butler and who recently completed his training under Ueno’s tutelage in Japan. With exceptionally high standards and his unique mixology flair, each exquisite cocktail will be prepared to perfection.

 

Bar De Luxe is the product of a partnership with Bar High Five Tokyo, marking their first-ever collaboration outside of Japan.

The world-renowned Japanese bartender that admirers flock from far and wide to observe, Hidetsugu Ueno needs no introduction. With well over 20 years of experience perfecting his craft, his resume showcases one valuable tenure at Star Bar Ginza before he started up the bar that would eventually rocket him into the bartender hall of fame. Making the World’s 50 Best Bars list for 11 years in a row among countless other accolades, Ueno-san’s Bar High Five in Ginza is no doubt one of the cocktail lover’s most sought after destinations in the world. In addition to founding Bar High Five in Tokyo and Bar De Luxe in Hong Kong, Ueno-san holds the honorary title of Vice President in the Nippon Bartenders Association and mentors for East End Bar in Taipei’s award-winning boutique hotel, Proverbs.

A young talent about to enter the big time, Ivin Hui has been tasked with continuing the exemplary standards at Bar De Luxe. Having worked alongside master mixologists like Masayuki Uchida – Ivin originally apprenticed at Butler, in Tsim Sha Tsui – and having recently returned from a stint in Japan under the watchful eye of Ueno himself, we believe Ivin has all the tools required to rise to the task. Get a glimpse of one of the future stars of the local bar scene and lead the bar to receive an award of time out best bar 2018.
